These courses are FREE and are designed to get you outdoors and exploring how numeracy can be found in all aspects of nature. Develop your confidence with numbers as a first step to gaining a numeracy qualification and have fun finding out about nature’s numbers.

By taking the time to connect with nature, our course is designed to help you develop confidence using numbers and improve your health and well-being at the same time.

During nature walks with our experienced guides you will learn about nature and use numbers to record what you find. Our maths tutor will be there to show you how to develop these numeracy skills towards gaining a qualification when you are ready.

The work you do on these walks will contribute to the data collected by the Cumbria Biodiversity Centre as they record the nature we have around us. Come along and see what numeracy in nature is all about!

The Multiply Programme – it all adds up!

Feeling confident with numbers helps in every aspect of life, from measuring food ingredients, mixing hair dye and checking invoices, to helping the children with their homework or even setting up in business.

But if you feel uncomfortable when thinking about numbers, you’re not alone! The good news is that there is no such thing as someone who ‘can do maths’ and someone who cannot. It’s learning in the right way for you that will help you get on in life.  This could be applying for at a new job, improving career prospects, budgeting at home, helping the kids or saving for the future.  You do not don’t need to become a maths expert to do this.

With the current increase in the cost of living, it adds up that now is time to improve your own skills in working with numbers.

Therefore, if you’re one of the 49% of adults underconfident when it comes to anything about maths, you’ll be able to get the support you need in the way you need it from the Multiply programme. From flexible online courses to one-to-one mentoring, learn how you want, when you want.

Multiply has been launched as part of the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) programme, by the Department for Education (DfE).
