Grant funding opportunities

  • Forestry Training Fund

    If you live or work in England, you can apply for 100% grant funding to help you gain new forestry and woodland skills. Funding is available for people considering a change of career, or seeking to build and diversify their skills in forestry and who want to undertake a forestry-related training course.

  • Gardens Trust

    Cumbria Garden Trust Horticulture Scholarship

    Two scholarships a year for those living in or near Cumbria.

    One Scholarship will be age restricted to 18-25 year olds living in or near Cumbia who are potential or new entrants into a horticulture career.

    One Scholarship will not have an age restriction and those applying must live in or near Cumbria.

    Applicants will need to demonstrate why they are applying for the scholarship.

    The funding will pay for up to 2 years tuition, worth £2600, to study the Certificate and Diploma in Practical Horticulture.

  • Newton Rigg Ltd - Scholarships

  • Professional Gardeners' Trust

    This charity is specifically to support horticulturists who can't afford the training they need to develop their careers. Please visit the website and use the application form.

  • The Farmer Network

    The Farmer Network training voucher scheme is designed to help members of the network afford the cost of training and certificates of competence related to operating their farm business.

    Vouchers are worth up to £200 and can be redeemed on a wide range of training courses.

  • The Lawrence Foundation

    This private family foundation provides grants to support people in the study of horticulture or music, and, in particular, those studying music therapy, and young musicians in North Cumbria.

  • The Newton Rigg Society

    The Newton Rigg Society is the alumni for past Newton Rigg College students. NRS have kindly offered to support previous Newton Rigg College students should they chose to further their studies with NR Training.

  • The Swales Trust

    This fund is managed by Cumbria Community Foundation and supports individuals who live and have a home address in Cumbria for education in the farming, forestry, game-keeping or horticultural industries.

  • Women in Agriculture Practical Training Fund

    The Women in Agriculture Practical Training Fund has been established by Scottish Government to support the personal development of women, providing them with additional skills to progress their careers and employment opportunities in Scottish agriculture beyond their current role.
