  • NR Training- the next chapter

NR Training (NRT) was established in July 2021 and has operated its School of Horticulture from Lowther Castle and Gardens since then, expanding its offer in Sept 2022 to operate from Holehird Gardens in Windermere. The courses are full cost and are very popular with students who take the courses to upskill or retrain for work in the horticulture sector or for recreation. NRT also offers an Advanced Dairy Management programme and will shortly be expanding this to offer full cost short course skills licences, all managed by our Commercial Business Manager.

NR Training is now in an exciting position as it brings forward its plans to offer funded accredited and non-accredited qualifications to Cumbria and requires innovative and proactive new team members to deliver the next key objectives of our Education and Training Development Strategy.

  • Our Strategy as a charity

As part of Newton Rigg Ltd, a registered charity, we are the education and training arm of the charity.

  • Our working culture

As a new training provider we have no preconceived ideas about the education and training we should be developing for Cumbria’s land-based sector. We are entirely driven by what our community and businesses need from us and our team work hard to deliver their expectations.

We are responsive, inclusive and collaborative and we are building a team that can make our offer accessible to a wide range of people.
